red garden (manga x 10)

I finally scanned in a few more images from my manga. No Lula this time, I thought I'd go for something different - primarily Kate and Lise. I love the way Lise is drawn in the manga. I tried for a more muted colour scheme this time, I hope it looks OK.

All images used were scanned and coloured by yours truly. Feel free to use icons however you wish. Keyword credit to thereductionist or missdeep. Enjoy.

Mm, I adore the manga's art--it's so sad that it's doomed to a status of "will never be released" and I've never been able to find scans. They all look lovely! I especially love number 7 and Herve's stupid face, haha.

Glad you like the icons. I love the manga, it's different - but in a good way. *sigh* I wish the series was popular enough to warrant licensing the manga (ditto with the novel). Anyway, the first manga volume is available raw online (see here). None of the other volumes seem to be available though.

Herve is such a penis pump.

You are amazing ♥ Thank you so much for that volume, at least! And man, I know, right? But I even stumbled across an article somewhere that mentioned Red Garden as in the "never to be licensed" category of manga because it's too "artsy." Which is...true...but I'd be damned if I wouldn't buy it like hotcakes anyways. It's even worse because shit like Seikon no Qwaser (no idea if it is licensed, I'm just assuming) will get picked up right away. :(

You're welcome ♥

YES, QWASER IS LICENSED. BY TOKYOPOP - you didn't see that coming, did you? :P

I don't think there's any point listing titles in "never to be licensed" categories because damn, how many times have they been proven wrong? I still remember the ridiculous tirade in Animerica that "doomed" Wedding Peach to the "NEVER GONNA GET HERE" basket. Then, out of the blue, not only was the anime released quite elaborately by ADV - the manga was published by Viz as well. Fans never expected it to happen in a million years and yet, I have Wedding Peach DVDs sitting happily in my house right now.

Red Garden manga "arsty"? Eh, far more obscure, artistic and edgy titles have been licensed before (and continue to be licensed today). I do think however, that it would be difficult to find a strong market for Red Garden as it isn't an easy title to sell. I'd stop short of saying it will never reach America though because I just don't think there's any need to make such predictions nowadays (though I will admit I'm not exactly holding my breath).

In a perfect world Dark Horse would pick it (and the novel) up and I'd happily throw my money at their feet. /END OF STORY

I really love how you colored the images! ♥ Far better than most manga-color I've seen lately.

Thanks so much! I didn't think the really vibrant colouring I did on my previous Red Garden sets would suit these characters, so I figured I'd try something a bit different. Glad to hear they look ok! :D
